On 20 November 2021 Sif Holst attended the Conference “Empowering persons with disabilities to fully participate in society by their mobility and accessibility” hosted by the Slovenian presidency of the EU.
The importance of recognizing sign language, securing accessible public transportation (also across borders) and the new EU Strategy were among the topics. A central cross cutting theme is the need to have strong Disability Organisations who can help create the change. And we need to insist on strong CRPD-based legislation and funding for activities. We need a joint effort, if the EUs Disability Strategy is to be a success. You can watch a recording of the entire conference here.
