A resilient EU and the role of civil society on the EU recovery.
Β
During the plenary of the European Economic and Social Committee on the 18th to 19th of May, one of the debates was with Valdis Dombrovskis, the executive vice-president of the EU Commission. The debate was on achieving a resilient EU and the role of civil society on the EU recovery.
Sif Holst made the following comment:
We have seen it during the pandemic, we see it when the cost of living, when the costs of energy costs, of food and more rise and we see it, when we welcome refugees from Ukraine.
Civil society is at the core of creating a resilient society and an important element is to secure a seat at the table for groups such as persons with disabilities.
Β
We must secure the voices of those vulnerable and their civil society organisations, also when working with the national recovery and resilience plans, if we are to ensure societies where we all can contribute.Β
